CF Montréal delivered a statement performance on Wednesday night after demolishing Calgary Blizzard SC 5-0 at Stade Saputo in the TELUS Canadian Championship 2026. The MLS side, currently sitting 14th in the Eastern Conference with just 9 points, shocked supporters with one of their most dominant performances of the season.
After weeks of struggling in Major League Soccer, Montréal finally looked confident, aggressive, and dangerous in attack. The Canadian club controlled the match from the opening whistle and never allowed Calgary Blizzard SC any opportunity to settle into the game.
Montréal Took Control Early
The breakthrough came through Ukrainian forward Ivan Losenko, who opened the scoring and immediately energized the home crowd. Montréal continued pressing high and attacking with pace, creating constant problems for Calgary’s defense.
Before halftime, Mexican striker Daniel Ríos doubled the advantage with a composed finish, giving the MLS club full control heading into the break.
Second Half Turned Into a Goal Festival
CF Montréal continued their attacking showcase in the second half and completely overwhelmed the visitors.
Venezuelan midfielder Wikelman Carmona added the third goal after a brilliant collective play, while Spanish playmaker Iván Jaime found the net shortly after with an excellent finish inside the box.
To complete the perfect night, American midfielder Frankie Amaya scored Montréal’s fifth goal, sealing a dominant victory and sending Stade Saputo into celebration mode.
Important Confidence Boost Before Orlando City Clash
The performance arrives at a crucial moment for CF Montréal, whose MLS campaign has been difficult so far this season. Despite sitting near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, the club finally showed chemistry, attacking intensity, and confidence that fans had been waiting to see.
The team will now turn its attention back to MLS action, where Montréal faces Orlando City in a very important upcoming match as they attempt to climb out of 14th place in the Eastern Conference.
